Case Study
Musicians connecting and collaborating
This student project consisted of a 3-member team. We were tasked with helping Guitar Center establish themselves as a major player in the digital space for local musicians by increasing their user engagement in order to collaborate with each other.
Guitar Center has succeeded in developing an e-commerce site but sees an opportunity to provide tools for musicians to connect and collaborate with one another. The user engagement this digital service provides could help Guitar Center establish itself as a major player in the digital space for local musicians.
We conducted extensive user research using the following methods: Competitive and Comparative Analysis, User Surveys, Contextual Inquiries, User Interviews and Usability Testing. After the user research we found the primary user goals our solution supports are to easily find other musicians to collaborate with and to confidently determine their personal and musical compatibility. To test our hypotheses we did sketches for preliminary user testing. After the preliminary user testing we created a prototype and did user testing.
Our process entailed Competitive Analysis, Comparative Analysis, User Surveys, Contextual Inquiries, User Interviews, Feature Prioritization, Personas, Wireframing, Usability Testing and Prototyping.
